Come and visit beautiful Modoc County....."The Last, Best Place" to be!  We are surrounded by Public Land and have many recreational possibilities to offer. There are many lakes and reservoirs and the fishing is beyond compare! If hunting, fishing, hiking, biking, camping, ATV'ing, jeeping (just to name a few) are things that you are into; then this is the place for you.  We have many small communities here and we are big into agriculture and ranching. Many of the families in our small communities are ranchers that own large acreage that have been in their families for generations. Start your family here, retire here or vacation here, we may be located a little distance from the larger cities but the peace and quite here is well worth it!  Get away from the "rat race" and enjoy the great outdoors and Modoc!
